SQLSurrey

Welcome to the SQLSurrey PASS Chapter

We are SQLSurrey, the SQL Server Usergroup based in Guildford and surrounding areas. We're a group of SQL enthusiasts from the area who specialise in the MSBI & Azure side of things, but we'll be hosting a range talks across the whole SQL spectrum.

We're hoping to build up a community of like-minded peers to share knowledge, sharpen skills and enjoy a few beers. It's pretty important to us that these aren't lectures - we'll be occupying the back room of a pub and keeping things informal as best we can!

SQLSurrey May Meetup: Move part of your body to Azure SQL Data Ware; Introduction to Azure Notebooks

  • In-Person @ White House Pub Guildford, Surrey, United Kingdom (map)
  • 19:00 - 21:00 GMT Daylight Time
  • Language: English

Details Come along and join us for a social evening in Guildford with 2 great talks planned and of course as usual drinks and buffett food will be provided by us! Details: We'll be following the usual agenda - a quick update about the group, general announcements and PASS news. Followed by the two talks from our guest speakers. Session one: Move part of your body to Azure SQL Data Warehouse by Kamil Nowinski Azure is cheaper, Azure is faster, Azure is more secure. Azure... everywhere is Azure. Data is everywhere. Even if not today, certainly in the future (yes, believe me) you will face a case: how to move my data from on-premise Data Warehouse to Azure. This session will reveal the ideas how to do that, how to recognise if you are ready, what the best practices are and other important things we should be aware of. I will describe potential issues and give you hints on how to avoid them. Finally, I will present one tool that can help you in a preparation and also we will see what speed we can achieve during a migration. Session two: A brief introduction to Azure Notebooks by Zach Stagers I’ll be going over what Azure Notebooks are and why you should be using them. I’ll cover how to create, clone, and share one, as well as a few other features and limitations. Would be great to see you there, and, as always, get in touch if you'd like to speak at an upcoming event!
