Welcome to the SQLSurrey PASS Chapter

We are SQLSurrey, the SQL Server Usergroup based in Guildford and surrounding areas. We're a group of SQL enthusiasts from the area who specialise in the MSBI & Azure side of things, but we'll be hosting a range talks across the whole SQL spectrum.

We're hoping to build up a community of like-minded peers to share knowledge, sharpen skills and enjoy a few beers. It's pretty important to us that these aren't lectures - we'll be occupying the back room of a pub and keeping things informal as best we can!

Next Meeting

SQLSurrey Christmas Code Dojo!

  • In-Person @ The Stoke Pub & Pizzeria Guildford, Surrey, United Kingdom (map)
  • 19:00 - 22:00 UTC
  • Language: English

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... Our speaker-elves are taking a break and the grotto (Stoke pub) will be rather noisy, so we're going to do something a bit different - a Christmas Code Dojo.

Expect presents (prizes), mince pies, bad music and more!

What's a Code Dojo?

Dojos are collaborative challenges, designed to keep your coding skills sharp, bringing you out of your comfort zone. All challenges can be solved in T-SQL, usually via many different methods.

We'll read through a problem, split into groups to tackle it then talk through the various approaches people used. Then pick a new problem and repeat.

Prizes for best solution, fastest correct answer, worst christmas jumper and the dirtiest hack!

What do I need?

We should have a few laptops for the night, but if you have a laptop with SQL Server 2016, bring it along!

Other than that, just bring along your razor sharp SQL-Ninja skills!
